Summarize By: January 8, 2003 Train the Trainer Cary Bidot, South Puget Sound Summarize By: The SUMMARIZE BY prompt calls for the numbers of the sort fields you want to use as control breaks. A break point occurs when a sort field value changes and is a place where you may want to perform functions (eg: subtotal, count, average, minimum, maximum) on certain fields. The sort field numbers can be entered in any order, separated by commas, and you may include a '0' (zero) to indicate that a grand (total report) summary line is also required. Type of Summary Functions: The field number may be followed by a suffix indicating the type of summary function: '*' for subtotal (default if no suffix) 'C' for count 'A' for average 'L' for low (minimum) 'H' for high (maximum) 'E' for last value (ending). A field can have more than one summary function specified, for example: '3,4,4C,1L,5A,1H'. Break Point Summary Functions Finished Report Summary Functions Break Point
