Biographical Note / Historical Note / Administrative History
Edward W. Wolner currently serves as a Professor Emeritus of Architecture at Ball State University.
Prior to this, Wolner served as an Assistant Professor in the department of architecture and the Honors
College, teaching architectural history and architectural theory. His most recent course was taught in the
fall of 2012. Wolner earned his Ph.D from New York University, where he also taught. He subsequently
taught at Brooklyn College and Ohio State University, before arriving at Ball State University. Edward
Wolner published his first book, Henry Ives Cobb's Chicago: Architecture, Institutions, and the Making of
a Modern Metropolis, in 2011.
Scope and Contents
This collection includes photocopies of journal and newspaper articles, original and scanned images, book
copies, dissertation and thesis copies, material request forms and invoices, correspondence, and digital
photographs and scans from Edward Wolner ranging from 1872 to 2008 regarding architectural history,
the life and work of Henry Ives Cobb, and the northern Chicago region of Illinois.
