s1v Ga&,&rmation-66'
Total thickness of the.Devohian a t t h i s locality. is greater than any other
section measured 8aSt of t h e Rio Grande River i n New Mexico. There are
three possable divisions, definitely
two formations. In the opindbn of t h e
.writer the lower two a i v i s i a n s a r e middle Devonian, neither are represented
a t t h e type sect'ion of t h e . Sly Gap. f0rmation.A portion of o f t h e middle
division l e represented incompletely in the Sacramento Mountains, probalbby
throughout the Sacramento Bts. Correlation of e i t h e r of the two lower divisions w i t h the Canutillo is doubtful, as-the Cangtillo carrys a different -E
fauna indicating a brackish'water deposit w i t h plants and marine invertebrates
mixed~~lndisciminately. The Canutillo could possibly be a very.near shore
phase of the lower
two divisions.
