Post-Baccalaureate Certificate
in Women’s Studies
Higher Values in Higher Education
Academic Excellence • Educational Opportunity
Personal Growth • Social Responsibility
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Women’s Studies is an option for students with
an interest in studying gender in the context of feminist theory and is an excellent
complement to many programs of study such as Political Science, Law Enforcement
and Justice Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, College Student
Personnel, and Business. Courses in the program strengthen students’ understanding
of women’s collective history as well as the public policies and cultural differences
that affect women’s lives today, both in the United States and cross-culturally.The
certificate in Women’s Studies may be used to demonstrate knowledge of diversity
issues, with particular emphasis on women and gender, for further study or for use
in an occupational setting. The certificate requires 12 semester hours. Non-degree
graduate students may pursue a graduate certificate in women’s studies, as well as
those enrolled in degree programs.
