Watermelon Day Décor
Create simple, paper decorations and hang in school hallways, cafeteria, and even in the lunch
line to promote watermelon and your special day.
Materials:
• 1-2 sheets of light green art paper (available at craft stores)
• 1 sheet of green 12” x 18” construction paper or art paper
• 1 sheet of yellow-green 12” x 18” construction paper or art paper
• 1 sheet of red art paper
• 2 sheets of 12” x 18” black construction paper
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Clear craft glue
• Double-sided tape

Instructions
Oblong Watermelons
1. Draw large and small oblong watermelon shapes on light green paper and cut out.
2. Draw wavy 1-1.5” stripes on green paper and cut out.
3. Glue stripes to watermelon shapes.
4. Tape one watermelon in front of the other.
Watermelon Slices
1. Next draw two half moon shapes on red art paper and cut out.
2. Draw two more half moon shapes 1” bigger than red shapes on light green paper and cut out.
3. Glue the red half moon shapes on top of the green half moon shapes.
4. Draw three bite marks on one watermelon slice and cut out.
5. Cut seed shapes out of black construction paper and glue to slices.
Round Watermelons
1. Draw a large and small circle on light green paper and cut out.
2. Draw wavy 1” stripes on yellow-green paper and cut out.
3. Glue stripes to watermelon shapes.
4. Cut a small stem out of light green paper and glue to large watermelon.
5. Tape watermelons side by side.
Using white chalk, write a fun watermelon message on black
construction paper and cut out.
Tape message across watermelons and tape decoration to wall.
