West Virginia Student Success Standards (WVSSS) for Adolescent Level Programming Composite Crosswalk for Core Content areas in Grades 9 – 12 The WVSSS for Adolescent Level Programming (Grades 9-12) focus on academic, career, social and emotional development and global citizenship. Acquisition of the knowledge, skills and dispositions described in WVSSS helps students achieve school success and prepare to successfully transition to their postsecondary choice; whether it is direct placement in entry-level jobs, credit-bearing academic college courses, industry-recognized certificate or license programs or workforce training programs. These standards will be delivered within the programmatic level in a sequence designed by the school leadership team. UTILIZING THE WVSSS CROSSWALK Use this composite crosswalk as a planning guide for integrated delivery of the WVSSS. This crosswalk represents opportunities for teachers in each content area to teach their content standards while simultaneously teaching the indicated WVSSS. It is recommended that school leadership teams utilize the crosswalk to identify who will address the various WVSSS objectives within each programmatic level. Content teachers may review their specific content crosswalk to determine how simultaneously teach both sets of objectives. Once the leadership team has reviewed and completed the crosswalk and identified how the WVSSS will be integrated into the various content areas, the team will then need to identify who will fill in the gaps (counselors, advisors or community experts) of objectives not been integrated into core courses. It is recommended that the team instruct school staff how to document delivery of the WVSSS allowing the team to compile composite documentation of WVSSS delivery. One option is to provide an electronic shared file that allows multiple staff members to document delivery of the standards as they are delivered.
