Student Exchange Program- Course Planning Worksheet (Undergraduate) Guidelines for Course Selection Fisher College of Business Student Exchange Program Exchange Pre-Requisite Courses: Students must complete the following courses before studying abroad on the Student Exchange Program. Courses must be completed one full semester in advance of departure (i.e. Spring for Autumn semester abroad, Summer for Spring semester abroad). ECON 2001: Principles of Microeconomics ECON 2002: Principles of Macroeconomics ACCT 2200: Introduction To Accounting I ACCT 2300: Introduction to Accounting II STAT 1430: Statistics for the Business Sciences Core Business Courses: Information for students planning to take core business courses at foreign institutions. Students may take foreign courses that are equivalent to business core courses per the Past Course Equivalency List for each host institution, if available on the term they exchange. There are no limits on how many business core course credits students can take while on the exchange program. Courses you should not take abroad: Students are required to take the introduction to their intended specialization at Fisher. For example, if a student is planning on specializing in Finance, BUS FIN 3220 should be completed at Ohio State. BUS FIN 3500: Legal Environment of Business cannot be completed abroad since the focus of this course is on American law. BUSMHR 2292: Business Skills and Environment cannot be taken abroad. BUS MHR 4490: Strategic Management cannot be completed abroad since this course is the business degree capstone course that requires synthesis of all the core business courses. Course recommended to take abroad: BUS MHR 2000: Introduction to International Business is a good course to take abroad unless the student is planning to specialize in International Business. Specialization Courses: Information for students planning to take courses for their specialization: Students can complete up to 3 semester hours of specialization coursework abroad, if available. Students who to take more than 3 semester hours of specialization coursework abroad must meet with an academic advisor to receive approval. Approval is not guaranteed. Students should not take Accounting courses at foreign institutions since there are differences in American vs. International accounting systems. Gen Ed Courses: If the partner institution offers Gen Ed courses, students may take courses that are equivalent to those in the Social Science and Humanities categories of the Gen Ed. Minor Courses: Students must get course approvals from their minor department to use courses for their minor. Past students have been able to receive credit for their minor with pre-conversations and pre-planning. Students may not take courses at OSU while they study abroad on exchange. If you have questions about how courses taken on exchange can be applied to the business curriculum, you should schedule an appointment with a full time advisor in the Undergraduate Program and Advising Office. Call 292-2715 or go online to Fisher.osu.edu/Undergraduate/Advising/Online-Scheduling to schedule an appointment.
