wasattendedbyapproximately700faculty,
fieldexperts,anduniversityrepresentatives
frommorethan80countries.Theconference
providedabroaderprofessionalaudiencethanmightbefoundatmanynationalconferencesfor
presentingdataandsharingideasoninnovativeteachingapproaches,newapplicationsoftechnology,
andinternationalacademicdevelopment.
Mypurposeinattendingtheconferencewastopresentmyresearchonauthenticpedagogicalteaching
approaches.Thisworkhasthepotentialtoimpactonthefieldofpsychologyasawholeandon
pedagogicalpracticesusedinuniversitiesaroundtheworld.Presentationatthisconferencebroadened
thevisibilityofthePsychologydepartmentandDrexelUniversityonaninternationalscale.Therewasa
strong,positivereactiontomypresentationthatyieldednewcontactsforpotentialresearch
collaborationandpossiblenewresearchsites.Forexample,commonresearchinterestswithfaculty
fromauniversityinThailandresultedfollow-upconversationsregardinganinternationalapplicationof
myresearch.AresearcherinSouthAfricahasreachedouttodeterminehowDrexelstudentsandfaculty
mightbeabletocollaborateontransformativeprogramdevelopmentinthatcountry.Potential
researchcollaborationswerealsoidentifiedforotherfacultymembersinmydepartment.Networking
witharecognizedinternationalthinktankmayprovidenewresourcesforDrexelfacultyconsultation,
databasesforstudentstousefordataanalytics,andinternationalresearchprojectsforboth
undergraduateandgraduatestudents.
Participationattheconferencealsofosteredopportunitiesforforgingnewuniversityrelationships
aimedatfuturestudentrecruitment,potentialco-opsites,andresearchprospects.Idevelopednew
relationshipswithrepresentativesfrominstitutionsinSouthAfricaandLebanonwhichresultedin
preliminaryconversationsaboutpotentialstudentopportunitiesforstudyabroad,exchangestudents,
andco-opabroad.
InadditiontofurtheringthemissionandresourcesofDrexelUniversity,theconferencewasusefulfor
measaparticipant.Exposuretothediversemulti-culturalviewpointsoneducationaldevelopments,
technologyapplications,andprogrameffectivenessrepresentedattheconferencehavealreadyhadan

impactonmyperspectivesonteaching,studentdevelopment,andtechnologicalchallenges.Asaresult,
mystudentshavealreadystartedtoreceivethebenefitsofthisexposure.
TheINTEDConferencewasaproductivemeetingthatwouldnothavebeenpossiblewithoutthe
InternationalTravelAward.Welookforwardtoseeingthelong-termimpactandbenefitsofattending.
