Hydrocarbon Source Characterization The sediments of the Percha Formation (Devonian) have a mature poor to p o s s i b l yf a i ro i l and a s s o c i a t e dg a ss o u r c ec h a r a c t e r .T h i si n t e r p r e t a t i o n i s based on t h e p o o r t o f a i r amountsof organicmatter(0.22%avg.total organiccarbon;Table I ) analyzed which i s comprised of t h eo i l - p r o n e amorphous o r g a n i cm a t t e rt y p e( T a b l e 111). Even thoughthesesediments contain poor amountsof free hydrocarbon andhydrocarbongenerating p o t e n t i a l (S1=0.19mg/g;S2=0.35 mg/g; Table I I ) , t h e s e v a l u e s are consideredborderlineandthus,givesthesesediments a possiblyfair hydrocarbon source character.
