LIS Library Survey September 2008
For each pair of figures below, the figure on the right pools data into fewer, composite categories using
data from the same group of respondents. A few records (5 of 329, leaving 324 respondents) were
excluded from this analysis.i Also note that “LEEP Students” is a subset of “All MS & CAS Students.”
Finally, for the two figures “On-Campus GSLIS Faculty” and “LEEP GSLIS Faculty” – these are simply
divisions of “All GSLIS Faculty.”
Physical = Q#4 = “I visit the LIS Library on the third floor of the Main Library”
Virtual = Q#5 = “I visit the LIS Library virtually at its website”

Of the 329 responses logged, 5 were not included in this analysis:
1 response was an exact duplicate (including extensive text comments)
1 response was a undergraduate student worker
3 respondents provided insufficient demographic data (i.e., can’t tell if faculty/staff/grad student, etc.)
This leaves 324 respondents which were all used in the present analysis, although three LEEP students
did not respond to question Q5 (virtual, “I visit the LIS Library virtually at its website”)
There is some overlap in categories, for example, one could be both a “LEEP Student” and “Library Staff”,
thus summing up responses of the different categories will not add up to the same numbers as in “All
Respondents,” but may be a slightly higher number. When respondents clearly identified their primary
affiliation and status, they were included in that group, but in cases where it was more ambiguous, they
were counted in multiple groups (up to three groups for two of the respondents).
