Biographical Note
Michael B. Wood began his career at Ball State University as a Periodical Reference
Librarian in 1979. Soon after, he became Dean of University Libraries and held the
title Associate Professor of the Department of Library Service until he retired in
2006. During his time, the library was introduced to online bibliographic search
services, and the old card catalog system was replaced with an online one. Dean
Wood served Ball State University in a variety of ways, including instituting
scholarships for staff pursuing graduate degrees in library science, meeting with the
state legislature, writing reports for the Indiana Conference for Higher Education,
serving on state task forces, and acting as delegate to the Indiana Conference on
Libraries and Information Science at the request of the Governor.

data, newsletters, grant information, handbooks, reports, conference information,
committee records, gift documents, agreements, reviews and salary records.
