Historical Note
The Muncie City Clerk serves as the official keeper of municipal records and is sometimes referred to
as the "historian" of the community. The clerk is the keeper of city records including building permits,
city council minutes, ordinances and resolutions, insurance contracts, and inventories of city assets. They
also maintain city court records, take in bond and restitution payments, receive all fines and court costs,
maintain parking tickets and take in fines, as well as input traffic infractions.
Scope and Contents
This collection includes city ordinances and resolutions from the City Clerk's office in Muncie,
Indiana ranging from 1891-1922, predominate 1893-1919, regarding street, alley, sidewalk, and sewer
improvements in Muncie, Indiana and surrounding areas.
