Hansen's Farm
Fresh Dairy
Hudson
Hansen's farm has been in
the family since 1864. The first
gallon of milk from the farm's
175 Holsteins was produced in
their creamery in 2004. Jay and
Jeanne Hansen and their four
sons operate the farm.
The family owns three retail
stores: Moo Roo in Waterloo,
Hansen’s Dairy Outlet in Cedar
Falls, and Hansen’s Tour Center
on the farm. In addition to
selling Hansen’s dairy products,
each store also sells local
produce, meats, eggs, dry
goods, and Wisconsin cheeses.
The farm is also open for tours.

SCHOOLS
Farm to School Farm to School programs work closely with area
school districts to help bring the freshest fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat to Cedar Valley students.
These programs build vital community ties and provide opportunities for students to learn where and
how their food grows. For more information, contact the UNI Local Food Program at (319-273-7883)
or Food Corps at Iowa State Extension (319-234-6811).
These schools and districts are working toward providing children with more fresh foods from local family farms.
Thank you for your leadership.

COMMUNITY-SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE
What is a CSA? CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) is known as “subscription farming.” You buy a
subscription from a local farmer just like you buy a newspaper subscription and in return you receive weekly shares of fresh,
locally grown produce throughout the farming season. Some farmers also offer CSA shares that include meat, eggs, dairy, bread,
honey, and other products.
