Summer
Pre-College
GAME DESIGN
When Matt spent two
weeks of his summer
at Marist’s campus in
New York, he lived in
a dorm, took a class in
Game Design, studied
game design software
and programs, and
created his own video
games. But Matt is,
in fact, not a college
student; Matt attended
the Summer PreCollege program
before he even began
his senior year of high
school.
Expand your academic and creative aspirations! Marist’s Summer Pre-College
is a summer academic program exclusively for rising juniors and seniors in high
school. During your time here, you’ll learn from experienced professionals and
talented faculty, while spending 14 days in the heart of the historic Hudson River
Valley. You’ll make new friends and maybe even discover what you want to be
when you grow up. Think that’ll happen at a summer job?
“25 Most Connected
Campuses” by the
Princeton Review.
If you enjoy video games, why not design and create your own? At Marist’s
Summer Pre-College Game Design Program, you won’t have to fuss with archaic
programming languages. Instead you’ll use state-of-the-art game-maker software
that is both straightforward and yet is expansive and powerful. Students begin
creating games, simple ones initially then increasingly sophisticated ones later on.
You’ll learn how to create, test, and debug different types of exciting games such
as scrolling shooters, maze games, platform games, and 3D parallax games. Using
this modern, user-friendly approach,
you’ll be well on your way to making
real, viable video games that you can
even share with your friends. No prior

“Overall, the program at Marist
was more than what I thought it
would be. I learned so much about
a topic I’m interested in and might
want to pursue as a career. I got a
good sense of what college life is
like and met great people. I can’t
think of a better way I could have
spent two weeks.”
