Thank you for registering for online Social Psychology this Spring 2016! The focus of this course is course includes the study of how the behaviors, thoughts, and feelings of the individual are influenced by the presence of other persons. Topics such as sex roles; attitude formation and change; altruism and aggression; interpersonal attraction and love; and criminal justice will be discussed. In addition, various empirical research methods will be examined and applied to these topics. A bit about me….I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and have been providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults for over 15 years. I enjoy working with people, and enjoy the combination of therapy and teaching. I have been an instructor at Marist since 1998 and I find it rewarding to work in the mental health field, and exciting to teach students about related subject matters. The required text for this course is Social Psychology (4th edition), by Gilovich, Keltner, Chen, Nisbett (2016). The Marist bookstore has ordered the text.
