Kate Endress Kelsey Corbin In 2006-07 former Cardinal and now current assistant coach Kelsey Corbin was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team and named to the All-MAC squard. Former Cardinal Kate Endress is one of only two student-athletes at Ball State to earn Academic All-America of the Year accolades. She is one of just eight student-athletes in all sports at Ball State over the past 33 years to earn First Team AcademicAll-America honors twice in a career. Danielle Gratton In 2008-09 Danielle Gratton was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Team with a 3.91 grade-point average on ball State’s 4.0 scale and garnered Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors. Caribbean Classic-Cacun, Mexico Caribbean Classic Enters its Fifth Year in Cancun The Caribbean Classic will kick off its fifth year at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico in December 2010. The tournament will feature from four NCAA DI women’s basketball teams and will be played December 20 and 21, 2010. Illinois State, Ball State, Nevada and Alabama-Birmingham are the teams headlining the event. The Caribbean Classic is run by Fort Collins, Colo.-based Triple Crown Sports, which also organizes men’s college basketball tournaments in Cancun. Triple Crown coordinates the Preseason and Postseason Women’s NIT as well. Destination : Cancun, Mexico Cancun, with its perfect blend of natural reserves, archaeological sites and tourism attractions has evolved in recent years to become a unique tropical paradise. Schedule and Location Information The Cardinals will face Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) Dec. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Ball State is 1-1 against Alabama Birmingham with the Cardinals winning their last contest over UAB, 77-68, in 2001-02. She is currently retired from the sport and resides in Ponce, Puerto Rico. • She is the Cardinals’ all-time leading scorer at 2,091 career points, which ranks seventh all-time in Mid-American Conference history. Bowie was a two-time MAC Player of the Year recipient (2001-02 & 2002-03) becoming the only Cardinal to win the award multiple times. She was named Kodak/WBCA Honorable Mention All-America three times during her career as well as First Team All-Region three times. • She spent the 2007-08 season in Israel, playing with Hapoel Tel Aviv. She played in 13 of her team’s 21 games last season and averaged 24.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. Bowie was originally drafted in the 2003 WNBA draft by the Washington Mystics with the 36th selection. • Former Ball State women’s basketball standout Porchia Green is currently playing professionally overseas in Thessaloniki, Greece for the team Paok. The 2010-11 season marks Green’s second year playing professional basketball. Last year Green played for a team in Finland where they won the Finish Cup and were league runner-ups. She was player of the month for the month of November in 2009 and First Team All-Foreigner. Green averaged 18.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds last season.
