thateverystudentisreadytomeetthosechallenges.
The21stCenturySkillsFrameworkdevelopedbythe
Partnershipfor21stCenturySkillshelpstoguidethis
discussion.Participantsobserveandanalyzemodel
lessonstoidentify21stcenturyskillsandmethodsof
teachingthem,designalessonincorporating21stcen‐
turyskillsandtools,andcollaboratewithcolleaguesto
critiquelessonsdevelopedbyotherparticipants.
Thismoduleprovidesanintroductiontodataliteracy.
Bothteacherandprincipalperspectivesareincluded.
Itincludesinformationontypesofdata,strategiesfor
analyzingandunderstandingdata,andprocessesfor
determininghowthesecaninfluenceinstructional
practices.Inordertodesigneffectiveinstructionand
learningenvironments,educatorsneedtodetermine
whatlearnersknow,andeffectivelyuseevidencecol‐
lected.Thismoduleaimstoprovidelearningexperi‐
encesthatdeveloporenhanceabilitiestofind,evalu‐
ate,andusedatatoinforminstruction.
North Carolina School Executive Standards and Evaluation Process Digital Literacies in the K–12 Classroom 10 hours / 1.0 CEU 12 hours / 1.2 CEU TheNorthCarolinaPrincipalandAssistantPrincipal
EvaluationProcessisbasedontheNorthCarolina
SchoolExecutiveStandards.Thesestandardshave
beendevelopedasaguideforprincipalsandassistant
principalsastheycontinuallyreflectuponandim‐
provetheireffectivenessasleadersthroughouttheir
careers.Thestandardsserveasanimportanttoolfor
principalsandassistantprincipalsastheyconsider
theirgrowthanddevelopmentasexecutivesleading
schoolsinthe21stcentury.Themainresponsibilityof
principalsandassistantprincipalsistocreatealigned
systemsofleadershipthroughouttheschoolandits
community.
Studentsneedcontinualguidanceinbuildingdigital
literacy,andteachersneedcontinuallytoreflecton
howbesttoprovidethatguidance—andtorefinetheir
ownskills.Justasbasicliteracy—readingandwrit‐
ing—mustbeapartofteachingandlearninginevery
contentarea,somustdigitalliteracy.Thismoduleof‐
fersasoundandthoroughgroundingindigitalliteracy
asitpertainstotheclassroom—orofdigitalliteracies,
asthetitleofthemodulesays,fortherearemany
waysofthinkingaboutdigitalliteracy.
Understanding Young Student Behavior in the Classroom 5 hours / 0.5 CEU Thismoduleisforpreschoolthroughgrade5teachers.
Themodulewillserveasatooltoassistteachersto
developanenhancedawarenessofbehavioralhealth
issuesinyoungstudentsandextendthatknowledgeto
fosterlong‐termconnectivityandacademicachieve‐
mentforallstudents,decreasethedropoutrates,and
ultimatelyincreaseNorthCarolina'sgraduationrates.
Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects 3 hours / 0.3 CEU Thisintroductorymoduledefinesliteracyinthedisci‐
plines.Learnerswillreceiveanoverviewofthecon‐
nectionsbetweentheNorthCarolinaEssentialStand‐
ardsandtheCommonCoreStateStandardsforLitera‐
cyinHistory/SocialStudies,ScienceandTechnical
Subjects.Theywillthenhaveguidedpracticeexamin‐
ing,discussing,andcreatinglearningactivitiesfor
theirstudentsthatintegratetheNorthCarolinaEssen‐
tialStandardsandtheCommonCoreLiteracyStand‐
ardsfordisciplinesingrades6–12.
