2) News and announcements
Dan has gotten his planning committee together for the 2014 Research Showcase.
Members are Qiang Jin, Beth Sandore Namachchivaya, Dan Tracy, Kathleen Kern and
Antonio Sotomayor. Research showcase date is Wednesday, November 12, but no
deadline for submissions is set yet.
Dan and Qiang are meeting with Jen-Chien Yu tomorrow about the clarification between
funding for assessment projects and RPC project, how to clarify which funding source is
appropriate for which projects and strive to reduce potential overlap.
3) Discussion and vote on current funding application
There was no discussion and all voted in favor of funding the current application.
4) Budget updates for FY15

$30,000 for faculty grants
As needed for AP grants
Additional $3,000 for research showcase
Additional $550 for research books for new faculty
Jennifer clarified that the additional requested funds are still not approved, but we should
know by August 1 from Greg Knott if they are approved or not. The committee also
clarified that whether an application is considered “faculty” or “AP” will depend on what
appointment the lead applicant holds. AP grants voted by the RPC for funding will be
forwarded to John Wilkin for an identified funding source. AP funding will hopefully
become more regularized in a year or two after an idea of need is established.
5) Review of proposed changes to application form
Application form was approved with one minor correction (spelling of Kathie Veach in
the budget section). Jennifer will replace the form online with the new one.
6) Other
Kirstin and Beth confirmed that the next RPC Brownbag is ready to go, but a date has not
yet been set with the presenters. They will get a date set shortly.
The committee roster for 2014-2015 has not yet been decided. The chair is appointment
by the Dean, so we do not yet know who will be leading the committee. Jennifer and
Lisa are rolling off. Jennifer will work to make sure that the committee files are in order
and is happy to meet with the new chair about procedures, once the chair is named.
Since the July faculty meeting was cancelled, it will be up to the new committee to do a
presentation on the RPC activities for 2013/2014.
