Course Description: Students will expand their language abilities through the four modes of communication (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in order to use Spanish in practical real-life situations. Two units in the Avancemos series will be covered per trimester with an additional introductory unit at the beginning of the first trimester. II. Course Objectives: Students will enhance proficiency in oral and written communication in Spanish as well as develop an appreciation of other people and cultures. III. Grading: Grades will be determined based on points earned on written and oral assignments, presentations, quizzes, tests, final exams, homework and participation. To receive credit for work missed due to an excused absence, quizzes and tests need to be made-up within 2 days per day of absence (RHS policy). Participation: This grade is based on individual and/or partner and group work, and reflects your effort to use Spanish as well as how well you are prepared for class. Help: Please see your teacher immediately if you need any help. Teachers are available for help before and after school. In addition, students can see their counselor to request a tutor.
