Should my student register for Honors or Regular courses at Eastview High School? How do I truly know my child’s school ability level? What does my student’s EXPLORE score tell me? Your student’s current maturity level, past behavior and past academic performance indicate only a few variables defining your child’s school ability level. We encourage you to look beyond these variables because these may change through the maturity of high school students (especially for males). Other variables we consider in making an honors placement recommendations are: MCA-II Math score (exceeds proficiency) MCA-II Reading score (exceeds proficiency) CHALLENGING ALL STUDENTS TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL Approximately 40% of all Eastview students take honors courses. Approximately 90% of all Eastview students go on to a post-high school education. Approximately 50% of all Eastview students go on to a post-high school education without taking honors classes. EXPLORE score (see below) teacher recommendations writing samples Eastview has a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare ALL students for post-high school experiences. Below is a sample of the EXPLORE Test results. A composite score at or above the 85 percentile, is an indication your student has demonstrated the academic readiness to be successful in an honors course at Eastview High School. Core Scores These sores are important to consider when selecting specific courses in math/science or English/social studies. Composite Score Percentile A composite score in the 85 percentile range indicates readiness for honors coursework at EVHS. College Readiness Indicators An honors student at Eastview High School should have scores that are ABOVE the college readiness benchmarks. (over)
