Elements of chemistry, physics and mathematics are required, and will be used as we need them. Laboratory exercises stress practice of skills and methods of problem-solving that earth scientists use. Field trips are essential for making observations about the physical processes that are active on earth, and applying lecture material. Frequent tests will allow you to monitor your progress in mastering this system of applied knowledge. Materials are regularly posted in the documents links on Blackboard (https://blackboard.usca.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp), students are responsible for these materials. If you have a physical, psychological, and/or learning disability which might affect your performance in this class, please contact the Office of Disability Services, 126A B&E, (803) 641-3609, as soon as possible. The Disability Services Office will determine appropriate accommodations based on medical documentation. Grading: Every day there will be an exercise using Norton Smartworks. There will be four weekly hr exams (50 pts each) and a final (70 pts). Laboratory: 10 pts/ex may be scored in the Laboratory. 200 Four exams ≈30% 70 Final (Tuesday 26 June at 9 am) ≈10% 200 Daily Exercises ≈30% 200 Lab Grade (8am-6pm, Sats June 8, 15, 22) ≈30% 670 Total Possible Points Your grade will be assigned according to your total points: A > 603; B > 536; C > 469; D > 402; F < 402. * Field trip in USCA vehicles.
