Observation and the recording of those observations will be stressed; simple interpretations will be made. We will plan to go in the field each day. Students should plan to go in the field with pencil, eraser, and bound notebook, perhaps some colored pencils, ample water, appropriate clothing (with particular attention to footwear, hat), and whatever snacks, lunch needed to keep going throughout the day. It would be best to carry your supplies in a pack. It would be good to carry a 10$ or 20$ in cash. As needed hardhats will be supplied. Please make your instructor aware of any medical condition (including prescriptions) that might arise over the course of fieldwork. Grades will assigned based on the accuracy and thoroughness of bound notebooks that will be collected at the end of the class, and returned on the day of the final. Generally a half letter grade will be subtracted for everyday a student misses the class.
