JOB*SUMMARY*
!
The!Police!Foundation!is!national!non2profit!non2partisan!organization!that,!consistent!with!its!
commitment!to!improve!policing,!has!been!on!the!cutting!edge!of!police!innovation!for!over!40!years.!!!
The!Police!Foundation’s!work!is!informed!by!available!evidence,!to!increase!public!safety!and!strengthen!
communities.!The!!professional!staff!at!the!Police!Foundation!work!closely!with!law!enforcement,!judges,!
prosecutors,!defense!attorneys,!and!victim!advocates,!to!develop!research,!!comprehensive!reports,!
policy!briefs,!model!policies,!and!innovative!programs!that!will!continue!to!support!the!work!of!law!
enforcement!(police!&!sheriffs)!personnel.!The!Police!Foundation!conducts!innovative!research!and!
provides!on2the2ground!technical!assistance!to!police!and!sheriff’s!departments!as!well!as!engages!
practitioners!from!multiple!systems!(corrections,!mental!health,!housing,!etc.),!and!local,!state!and!
federal!jurisdictions!as!it!relates!to!police!research,!policy!and!practice.$$!
The!Project!Associate!will!be!responsible!for!day2to2day!project!management!of!a!selected!portfolio!of!
research!and!technical!assistance!projects.!!This!person!will!coordinate!on!a!regular!basis!with!strategic!
partners,!providing!project!coordination!of!both!on!site!and!off!site!work!as!directed!by!the!Programs!
and!Technical!team.!The!project!associate!will!be!required!to!participate!in!project!related!meetings,!
initiating!the!meetings!when!appropriate,!and!in!project!related!site!visits!with!Police!Foundation!staff,!
strategic!partners,!funders,!and!law!enforcement!experts!across!the!country.!The!project!associate!will!
work!with!a!small!team!of!staff,!consultants!and!Police!Foundation!Fellows!reporting!to!and!working!very!
closely!with!the!senior!staff!of!the!Police!Foundation.!!
ESSENTIAL*DUTIES*&*RESPONSIBILITIES*
!! Providing!comprehensive!project!management!support!to!include:!monitoring!timelines,!budgets,!
and!deliverables!to!ensure!that!responsibilities!to!funders!are!met!in!assigned!program!areas;!
!! Managing!logistics!for!meetings,!off!site!work!and!related!events!as!it!pertains!to!the!projects!in!the!
Programs!and!Technical!Assistance!Division;!!
!! Supporting!the!planning!of!and!participating!in!project!meetings!with!high2ranking!government!
officials,!advocates,!and!national!experts,!initially!by!developing!agendas,!and!providing!support!for!
senior!staff!and!researchers;!
!! Contributing!to!the!development!of!Police!Foundation!website!content!and!strategizing!with!staff!
and!technical!consultants!on!ways!of!using!the!web!to!promote!policy!goals;!!
!! Assisting!senior!staff!in!developing!a!wide!range!of!written!products,!including!policy!guides,!
trainings,!and!web2based!materials;!!
!! Supporting!senior!staff!and/Fellows/Consultants!in!coordinating,!attending,!and!documenting!site!
visits!in!jurisdictions!across!the!country;!
!! Coordinating!activities!of!the!Ideas!in!American!Policing!series!to!include!communication!with!
presenters!and!attendees!on!travel!arrangements,!invoices,!deliverables,!etc.;!!
!! Coordinating!of!staff!assignments!associated!with!booth!representation!and!exhibition!at!
the!annual!International!Association!of!Chiefs!of!Police!(IACP)!conference!to!include!!
logistical!arrangements;!
