JOB*SUMMARY*
The!Police!Foundation!is!national!non3profit!non3partisan!organization!that,!consistent!with!its!
commitment!to!improve!policing,!has!been!on!the!cutting!edge!of!police!innovation!for!over!40!years.!!!
The!Police!Foundation’s!work!is!informed!by!available!evidence,!to!increase!public!safety!and!strengthen!
communities.!The!!professional!staff!at!the!Police!Foundation!work!closely!with!law!enforcement,!judges,!
prosecutors,!defense!attorneys,!and!victim!advocates,!to!develop!research,!!comprehensive!reports,!
policy!briefs,!model!policies,!and!innovative!programs!that!will!continue!to!support!the!work!of!law!
enforcement!(police!&!sheriffs)!personnel.!The!Police!Foundation!conducts!innovative!research!and!
provides!on3the3ground!technical!assistance!to!police!and!sheriff’s!departments!as!well!as!engages!
practitioners!from!multiple!systems!(corrections,!mental!health,!housing,!etc.),!and!local,!state!and!
federal!jurisdictions!as!it!relates!to!police!research,!policy!and!practice.$$$

The!Project!Assistant!will!be!responsible!for!supporting!day3to3day!project!management!of!selected!
projects!across!various!research!and!programs!within!the!Police!Foundation.!!This!person!will!provide!
general!administrative!support!and!project!coordination!of!both!on!site!and!off!site!work!as!directed!by!
Senior!Staff.!The!project!assistant!will!be!required!to!participate!in!project!related!meetings,!initiating!the!
meetings!and!site!visits!with!Police!Foundation!staff,!funders,!and!law!enforcement!experts!across!the!
country.!The!project!assistant!will!work!with!a!small!team!of!staff,!consultants!and!Police!Foundation!
Fellows!reporting!to!and!working!very!closely!with!Police!Foundation!senior!staff.!!

ESSENTIAL*DUTIES*&*RESPONSIBILITIES*
!! Supporting!Project!Directors!and!both!Research!and!Project!Associates,!providing!project!
management!support!to!include:!monitoring!timelines,!budgets,!and!deliverables!to!ensure!that!
responsibilities!to!funders!are!met!in!assigned!program!areas;!
!! Supporting!the!development!of!Police!Foundation!written!and!web!based!publications,!project!
deliverables!and!other!materials!as!appropriate;!!
!! Managing!logistics!for!meetings,!off!site!work!and!related!events;!!!
!! Contributing!to!the!development!of!Police!Foundation!website!content!and!strategizing!with!staff!
and!technical!consultants!on!ways!of!using!the!web!to!promote!policy!goals;!!
!! Assisting!senior!staff!in!developing!a!wide!range!of!written!products,!including!policy!guides,!
trainings,!and!web3based!materials;!!
!! Conducting!internet!research!as!directed;!
!! Coordinating!activities!of!Police!Foundation!special!events,!to!include!the!‘Ideas!in!American!
Policing’!series,!communication!with!presenters!and!attendees!on!travel!arrangements,!invoices,!
deliverables,!etc.;!!
!! Coordinating!of!staff!assignments!associated!with!booth!representation!and!exhibition!at!
the!annual!International!Association!of!Chiefs!of!Police!(IACP)!conference!to!include!
logistical!arrangements;!
!! Participating!actively!in!staff!discussions!and!strategic!planning!meetings;!
!! Staffing!national!industry!conferences,!events!and!meetings!as!requested;!and!!
