Three conditions will be tested: 1) 2-orbit stability after sitting at a constant thermal attitude for 10 orbits 2) 2-orbit stability after sitting at a hot thermal attitude for 10 orbits and then slewing to a cold attitude 3 Proposal 11441 (STScI Edit Number: 0, Created: Wednesday, February 18, 2009 10:33:42 PM EST) - Overview 3) 2-orbit stability after sitting at a cold thermal attitude for 10 orbits and then slewing to a hot attitude. Stability measurements will be made by a series of short observations of a globular cluster. OBSERVING DESCRIPTION We are trying to monitor stability during 3 conditions: after sitting at a constant thermal attitude for 10 orbits, immediately after slewing to a cold attitude after sitting at a hot attidude for 10 orbits, and immediately after slewing to a hot attitude after sitting at a cold attitude for 10 orbits. For efficiency, the first condition can be at a hot attitude instead of an arbitrary one, and we can perform the transitions from hot to cold to hot consecutively. The sequence will thus be: 10 orbits hot (Visits 1-5 or 21-25), 2 orbits hot (Visit 6 or 26), 2 orbits cold (Visit 7 or 27), 8 orbits cold (Visits 8-11 or 28-31), 2 orbits hot (Visit 12 or 32). This entire block of 24 orbits should be executed contiguously, although lost observing time due to SAA impacts are not a problem and does not need to be recovered in subsequent orbits. The program has been broken into 2-orbit visits due to the inability of APT to handle larger blocks of exposures, but it should be executed in a contiguous set of 24 orbits. The activity number for this proposal is WFC3-028. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS If both WFC3 channels (UVIS and IR) are available, the stability should be monitored via program 11549.
