UMKC’s unique program focuses on fundamental and advanced GIS training and related computational methods, with an emphasis on their applications in: • environmental studies • urban planning • crime analysis • database applications • Advanced Geographic Information Science Elective courses (students must complete three): • Environmental Remote Sensing and Digital Image Analysis • Geocomputation for Earth and Environmental Sciences • Satellite Climatology The program’s curriculum consists of five courses (or 15 credit hours) covering important and emerging aspects of the GIS field. • Special Topics in Advanced GIS and Remote Sensing • Quantitative Methods in Planning Students and working professionals enrolled in the program will become proficient in using GIS and remote sensing techniques to address various environmental and urban issues.
