Design for Donations aim to assist the less fortunate in the Metro Vancouver area by applying graphic design skills through projects for the community in return for contributions. We are offering our design services in return for donations to help those in need, whether it is in the form of food, clothing, toys, or money. We’ve noticed that many groups, clubs, companies, and organizations are looking to get design work done but may not have the resources to do so. With Design for Donations, you can get great design work while contributing to those who need it. Think about it. Do you need a new logo, business card, letterhead, poster, or brochure? We’re here to help! WHO ARE WE? We are the Interactive Arts & Technology Student Union (IATSU) at Simon Fraser University. We have gathered students specializing in branding and graphic design to work with Design for Donations. Our goals are to help those around us, build the community, develop our skills and create design work that we are proud of. YOU DESIGNER CHARITIES Surrey SPCA: SPCA’s mission is to protect and enhance the lives of domestic farm and wild animals in BC. Learn about the injured, neglected or abused animals. Your gift will help the SPCA continue their life-saving work providing the care and protection that these animals desperately need. www.spca.bc.ca/branches/surrey Surrey Foodbank: As a non-profit charitable organization, the Surrey Food Bank is able to operate thanks to food and monetary donations from the community. They assists about 14,000 people a month from Surrey and North Delta. www.surreyfoodbank.org Surrey Women's Centre: Surrey Women’s Centre offers a range of crisis, court and counselling services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Their resource centre offers a community kitchen, housing and income clinic and free clothing to help victims meet their basic needs. www.surreywomencentre.ca Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society: This association offers relief programs to those who have been affected by poverty, injuries and traumatic experiences. http://surreyfirefighters.com/charitablesociety/ DONATION TOWARDS CHARITIES There’s a minimum donation of 10 dollars an hour recommended for each design request. We are implementing a fifty-fifty split ratio, where half of the donation will benefit the designer and the remaining half will directly proceed to the charity. Together, we can improve the quality of life of different individuals and continue to assist our community.
