Be a currently enrolled UMKC student (undergraduate or graduate)
with at least a 3.0 GPA
Be able to provide proof of completion of English 110 or equivalent
writing course with a letter grade of B or better (completion of
English 225 also is preferred)
Have a résumé, academic writing sample, and completed tutor
application form on file with theWritingCenter
Have a sincere desire to help all students from a variety of
backgrounds and academic disciplines with their writing
Be able to listen and communicate effectively
Be reliable, professional, and customer service oriented
Be able to collaborate well with others
Be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week (days and
evenings) during the fall and winter semester (dependent on
budgetary issues, hours are normally available during the summer).
