
Current price is $46 per month
• Increases to $48 per month on September 1st


Faculty Senate and Staff Council put forth a proposal to move
to a tiered-fee system based on an employee’s income from
UMKC
Administrative Requirements:
• Simple
• Revenue Neutral

Survey was developed to ascertain employee opinions
regarding the possibility of moving to a tiered pricing
system
 Online

• Initial invitation on April 26th
• Reminder on May 7th

 Could
be due to more staff, full-time, and
higher salaried employees parking on


152 respondents indicated it was unlikely they would
continue purchasing a permit
• Most of these respondents make higher salaries
 82% make more than $47,000
 57% make more than $65,000

89 respondents indicated it was at least somewhat
likely they start purchasing a permit if a tiered
system was implemented
• Most of these respondents make lower salaries
 75% make less than $47,000

Appears there is a potential loss of revenue
• The result is that the suggested prices will have to be raised to
have a zero impact on the revenue generated


Appears to be enough support for implementing a
tiered pricing model at UMKC to further explore the
idea
Still need clarification on:
• Which model will work best?
 Is there enough support for a five tier model?
• Which prices will need to be set for each level in order to have
zero impact on revenue?

Recommendations
• Ask for affirmative vote from Faculty Senate and Staff Council
• Conduct a small survey with a random sample in the fall
 Option 1 - Five-tier model with revised prices
 Option 2 – No tier model implementation
