Honors Courses – These courses follow the curriculum of our regular (non-honors) courses, with more depth, breadth, and rigor. These courses provide an excellent preparation for future Advanced Placement, College in the Schools and College Level studies. Advanced Placement Courses – These courses offer college bound students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school. To earn college credit, the student must successfully complete the course and take an end of the course examination. The Advanced Placement examinations are optional (but highly recommended) for students and are administered through the nonprofit College Board for a student paid fee. Every college/university in the country has their own policies regarding accepting advance placement test scores for credit. College in the Schools Courses – These are University of Minnesota courses taught at Rosemount by a high school teacher who has been specially trained to teach the course. The final grades earned by the students in these courses are placed on both a Rosemount High School and University of Minnesota transcript. Tuition is paid for by the school district. Additional Opportunities – Additional opportunities are available through the Post Secondary Education Options Program (PSEO), Mentor Program, and a variety of Rosemount High School courses which offer articulation agreements with local colleges. See the Rosemount High School Registration Guide (www.district196.org/ rhs/registration ) for further information regarding these programs. For more information contact the Rosemount High School Honors Coordinator, Drew Storley at 651-423-7510 or drew.storley@district196.org.
