Benchmarks are 50% of your grade and are divided as such; 40% for test and 10% for Key Terms and homework. Failure to turn in Key Terms and Homework will result in a 10% subtraction from weekly benchmark grade. If Cadet fails a benchmark he/she will receive peer instruction and given attempts to pass the benchmark. Upon a retake, the Cadet can only receive 70% credit. The time period for retake will be 0630-0730 (zero hour) on Thursday mornings (or as scheduled). Chicago Military Academy-Bronzeville is a school of leadership and discipline; cadets are graded on their ability to make sound and timely decisions in regards to their conduct not only within the walls this institution but, to and from the academy as well. The leadership grade makes up 30% of the quarterly grade and is influenced by behaviors and actions displayed by cadets. Uniform is an important part of Chicago Military Academy’s culture. Cadet’s uniform grade represents 20% of his or her overall quarterly grade. All uniforms are inspected daily and infractions are recorded on daily attendance forms for adjudication. Depending on the severity, frequency, or degree of infraction, cadets will incur point deductions which will accumulate at the end of the week; cadets may also be remanded to programs such as Extra Military Instruction (EMI), detention, and suspension on a case by case basis. (Update 1) 20 August 2014 CMA-B, 3519 S. Any cadet who accumulates 65 or more demerits during an academic marking period is considered excessive and will fail JROTC class for that marking period. ADDITIONAL COURSE BENCHMARKS The following parades and military ball are mandatory course requirements. In addition, cadets must be enrolled in at least one extracurricular activity. Each parade is benchmark worth 100 points. Cadets can makeup failed parade benchmarks with 8 hours after school activities approved by CSM Tuff. Uniform will be announced during formations.
