North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence Job Description Prevention Coordinator Hours: Full-time (40 hours); some evening and weekend work required Location: Durham, NC Reports to: Operations Director Status: Exempt Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Operations Director, the Prevention Coordinator will manage NCCADV’s prevention programs, with special attention to coordinating outreach and services to traditionally underserved populations. This position will supervise key staff, facilitate resource sharing and develop programming. The Prevention Coordinator oversees the Domestic Violence Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) Project and the Child Advocacy and Services Enhancement (CASE) Project and all other prevention-focused programs. Primary Job Responsibilities: 1. Manage all NCCADV prevention programs. This includes supervision of implementation of the 10 Year Plan to Prevent Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), coordination with statewide key stakeholders and direct provision of training and technical assistance to local domestic violence programs, allied professionals, regional sites, and community groups on issues related to IPV prevention. 2. Supervise staff and contractors as assigned. 3. Coordinate NCCADV’s participation in the NC DELTA State Steering Committee. 4. Identify on an ongoing basis the prevention programming needs of local domestic violence programs and allied professionals. 5. Maintain NCCADV’s internal statistics related to prevention programming. 6. Act as NCCADV’s liaison to the national DELTA project, to address continuing impact of prevention efforts on domestic violence. 7. Cultivate an area of subject-matter expertise related to prevention and coordinate training, technical assistance and partnerships relative to that area of specialization. 8. Coordinate NCCADV’s homicide tracking project and development of annual homicide reports in coordination with the Evaluation Specialist. 9. Collaborate with other staff to plan and implement NCCADV’s biennial conference and biannual membership meetings. 10. Contribute to the monthly mailing, brochures, the quarterly newsletter and other publications as appropriate. 11. Represent NCCADV on statewide committees, commissions or task forces, as assigned or appropriate. 12. Assist in the development and maintenance of the Resource Library. Other: 1. Prepare any necessary reports in a timely fashion, as required by funders and the Executive Director. 2. Participate in NCCADV regional, statewide and national projects and evaluation activities as required. 3. Participate in NCCADV staff meetings, in-service trainings, and retreats, and perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director. Qualifications: 1. Extensive knowledge of domestic violence and related issues and a commitment to ending violence against women. Understanding of and commitment to issues of cultural diversity as they apply to domestic violence prevention, intervention and services; ability and willingness to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experience. 2. Minimum of three years experience working in a local domestic violence service program or closely allied organization. 3. Master’s level degree in Human Services, Education, or related field or equivalent experience. 4. Prior supervisory experience. 5. Superior organizational skills; prior experience designing systems or policies is preferred. 6. Advanced technology skills, including, at a minimum, proficiency in Windows (including Word, Excel, and Power Point) and online communications. 7. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 8. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relations with a diversity of individuals, organizations, and government agencies. 9. Ability to organize and manage work time. 10. Commitment to contributing toward a positive work culture. 11. Access to reliable transportation; willingness and ability to travel out of state; some overnight travel required.
