Significant Figures
Rule 1- for numbers without decimals
-Start at the left and count from the first nonzero digit to the last nonzero digit
Rule 2- for numbers with decimals
-Start at the left and count from the first nonzero digit to the last digit (zero or nonzero)
Rule 3- with multiplication and division
-Answer may only have as many significant figures as the number in the equation with the
fewest number of significant figures.
Rule 4- Scientific Notation
