Civic Responsibility Enrichment Points: Demonstrating Responsible Citizenship INTRODUCTION: The United States has a democratic form of government. When compared to the alternatives, it is a wonderful system in which the people govern themselves. Americans are envied for their freedom. However these cherished rights come hand in hand with responsibility. There are many ways for us to demonstrate civic responsibility, and for doing so you will be rewarded with extra credit points. So let’s get away from the theory of our political system and actually experience it!! THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO EARN EXTRA CREDIT IN THIS CLASS. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 1. Documentation is required. Ask an official to sign your activity sheet. Include date and time. If necessary, a parent signature will be accepted. Also, take notes and pick up copies of the agenda, etc. 2. A written response is required for observation type activities, 1-2 pages typed. It may be informal but must be easily read!! Summarize what was discussed, questions that arose, AND what you think of the issue, process, elected officials, etc. 3.
