Civic Responsibility Enrichment Points:
Demonstrating Responsible Citizenship
INTRODUCTION:
The United States has a democratic form of government. When compared to the
alternatives, it is a wonderful system in which the people govern themselves. Americans
are envied for their freedom. However these cherished rights come hand in hand with
responsibility. There are many ways for us to demonstrate civic responsibility, and for
doing so you will be rewarded with extra credit points. So let’s get away from the theory
of our political system and actually experience it!! THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO
EARN EXTRA CREDIT IN THIS CLASS.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. Documentation is required. Ask an official to sign your activity sheet. Include date and
time. If necessary, a parent signature will be accepted. Also, take notes and pick up
copies of the agenda, etc.
2. A written response is required for observation type activities, 1-2 pages typed. It may be
informal but must be easily read!! Summarize what was discussed, questions that arose,
AND what you think of the issue, process, elected officials, etc.
3. Maximum of 30 points per quarter
