as far back as written records exist. In this regard, the
Department of Mathematics & Computer Science is organising a National Conference on the theme of Applications of Mathematics.
Objective
The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity to
the research students/teachers of colleges/universities to
present their research papers. It will give a chance to
exchange the ideas among the scholars of the country.
The conference will highlight the importance of
Mathematics.

About the Seminar
Mathematics is the study of topics such as quantity
(numbers), structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns and use them to formulate
new conjectures. Mathematicians resolve the truth or
falsity of conjectures by mathematical proof. When
mathematical structures are good models of real phenomena, then mathematical reasoning can provide
insight or predictions about nature. Through the use

by an act of Parliament and has 29 undergraduate colleges
including 2 professional institutions affiliated with the
university. The Department of Mathematics and Computer
Science came into existence in the year 2006 with
specialized interest in divergent disciplines of Pure and
Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

How to apply?
The capital city of Mizoram, Aizawl can be reached
by air from Kolkata, Guwahati and Imphal, and by
road from Guwahati via Shillong and Silchar. There
are daily flights (Air India, Jet Connect) from Kolkata
and two (Air India, Jet Konnect) from Guwahati.
Silchar is the nearest railway station – about 184 km
away from Aizawl. Buses and maxi cabs are available
from Guwahati (18-20 hrs journey) via Shillong (1215 hrs) and Silchar (06-08 hrs). Hotel accommodation
can be arranged on request upon remittance of
advance payment of booking charge along with the
registration fee.
Duly filled up registration form may be sent to the
