Brief Biography
Gill Harris is Regional Director of Nursing for NHS England North. Prior to this Gill was seconded to
NHS North of England as Deputy Chief Executive and has worked as Director of Nursing and
Performance and Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) at Wrightington, Wigan and
Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

David Tompkins has been involved in PPI since retiring from the Health Protection Agency 2 years
ago. He was a lay assessor for NHS England on five CCG authorisation panels in 2012 and is
currently a member of Leeds S&E CCG Patient Advisory Group.

Margaret Hughes is a retired Civil Service manager and a governor at a foundation trust. She is also
a lay representative at national, regional and local level with a particular interest in clinical audit and
patient involvement at all levels of the NHS.

Jackie Wilkinson is a trustee for Rethink Mental Illness and was previously a lay panel member for
two CCGs. Jackie chairs the Berkshire Mental Health User Group and is part of West Berkshire
Independent Living Network.

Dr Gavin Nicol is a consultant in anaesthetics and critical care at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals
NHS Trust. He is also Clinical Lead for Organ Donation and an educational supervisor within the
trust.

Reviewer for RCS England. With over 30 years of medical experience, Gulzar's previous roles have
included Medical Advisor for the South East Cost Strategic Health Authority and Medical Director at
Medway NHS Foundation Trust.

Roger Hall is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist and Intensivist and has worked at Papworth
Hospital, since 2002. Since 2010, Roger has been a clinical director managing theatres, critical care
and anaesthesia, radiology and pathology.

Dr Tom Foley is a psychiatry trainee in Newcastle. Tom has been a GMC quality assurance visitor for
the last 5 years and has held other roles with the BMA, the Revalidation Support Team, and the
British Association of Medical Managers. In August, he will be taking up a position on the National
Medical Director's Clinical Fellow Scheme.

Mike Wright is Executive Director of Nursing & Patient Experience and the Director of Infection
Prevention and Control at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. Mike has been a
registered nurse for 32 years, the last 10 of which have been at executive nurse director level. In his
current role, Mike leads on patient safety, service quality and clinical governance.

Helen Carter is Ward Matron for the Heart Care Unit at Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Foundation
Trust and has a clinical background in medical/cardiology nursing. She has also been a ward
manager of an acute care of the elderly ward and a neurosurgical ward.

Sarah Weight is a student nurse with experience in acute medicine for the elderly and acute spinal
injuries. She has an interest in acute and emergency nursing, and would like to work in this area.

Chris Harrop joined the Walton Centre as Director of Finance in 2004. He is a public chartered
accountant (Chartered Institute of Public Financial Accountants [CIPFA]). He has over 20 years NHS
experience covering community, acute and specialised services.

Jeanette Berry is a compliance inspector for CQC and has a varied portfolio of services including
support inspector for a local NHS Foundation trust alongside adult social care and independent
sector services. Jeanette is also a registered nurse and registered operating department practitioner.
