POST SECONDARY ENROLLMENT OPTION (PSEO)
Step by Step Process for Kirkwood PSEO Registration
1. Student informs counselor of interest in taking PSEO class from Kirkwood.
2. Student completes the online application to Kirkwood. www.kirkwood.edu/apply . This step is
creating an official record in the Kirkwood system, so they will need their SSN.
a. Click “PSEO/High School Career Academy: Earn college credit while in High School.”
b. Apply for Semester (choose the correct “term”/month student will be taking classes).
c. Under “program”, student chooses: PSEO/On-site.
3. Student will receive an email response that application is received. The email contains the official
Kirkwood identification number, called the “k #”. This is the permanent number to be used in place
of the SSN, and will not change during the entire Kirkwood career.
4. Student completes the PSEO registration form, secures signature from parent/guardian, and returns
signed form to high school guidance counselor for district approval.
5. School district signs/approves the registration form and forwards the signed registration form to your
local Kirkwood Center via mail or fax (contact info on the registration form).
a. Please note: Kirkwood Math and Composition courses require students to have a COMPASS
placement score or ACT score (math, reading, writing scores) on file prior to registration.
Please call your local Kirkwood Center to schedule a Compass Exam, or send copies of the
ACT score with the PSEO registration if you plan to register a student for a Composition or
Math Course.
6. Kirkwood team processes registration form, and advises counselor when registrations are completed.
If the student has chosen a section that is full, the Kirkwood team will assist counselor in finding a
suitable alternative for the PSEO student.
7. Student receives PSEO letter from Kirkwood regarding information for their PSEO class prior to the
beginning of term (textbook info, book return policy, Kirkwood ID number, etc.)
8. Your local Kirkwood Center provides high school counselor with a copy of the student’s final grade
at the end of the Kirkwood semester.
9. Student returns PSEO book to Kirkwood designated location to avoid direct cost of the book.
10. Student requests official transcript online to be sent to high school if needed, or other colleges or
universities. This convenient, online form allows you an official Kirkwood Community College
transcript free of charge. www.kirkwood.edu/transcript
