Dear Friends and Family,
Coach Eddy asked each member of the team to
put together a list of important people in our
lives.
I hope that you don’t mind that I have included
you on mine.
I am writing to request that you sponsor me with a donation of $25 dollars or more for
new uniforms, weight room equipment, next generation helmets, camps and video
software we can use to improve our game planning ability. In the race for excellence,
resources like these can maximize our program.
However, as you probably know, one of the consequences of the difficult economic
environment across the country is tremendous pressure on funding for education and
athletics in particular – even here at Coloma.
Many costs that budgets traditionally covered must now be paid for through other
means. Unfortunately, no amount of hard work in practice or touchdowns scored can
change that equation. At Coloma we are trying to be as proactive as possible.
I also want you to know a little more about us. Today, being a student-athlete is both a
challenge and a privilege. It’s a challenge because I must balance academic
responsibilities with long hours of practicing and competing. And hopefully have
some time for friends!
It’s a privilege because athletics are often very influential within the school
community. How I conduct myself before, during and after games is a reflection not
just on me but also on my school and hometown.
Lastly, playing high school football is about much more than wins and losses. I am
learning about leadership, teamwork, and developing a strong work ethic. Those are
lessons I can apply to every phase of my life, now and in the future.
Now you know why your support can have such a dramatic impact and why I am so
appreciative of your help. To say thanks – whether or not you can contribute – it just
