Text Reformulation of Utopian literature
To prove your understanding of the literature that we have read this quarter, you will
“rewrite” one of the texts into two different formats (which is called text reformulation).
You may choose to rewrite “The Lottery,” Anthem or “The Machine Stops” or to choose
to read a text in your textbook: “There Will Come Soft Rains” (pages 614-620) or “The
Censors” (pages 641-644).
You need to choose ONE text to rewrite into TWO formats.
Fortunately/Unfortunately Story:
 This story needs to be a minimum of 10 lines/pairs long.
 A minimum of 6 lines need to be formatted “Fortunately; unfortunately.”
 A minimum of 3 lines need to be formatted “Unfortunately; fortunately.”
 The final pair needs to restate the author’s warning in either format.
 Each line is worth 2 points for a total of 20 points.
 The grade will be based on the accuracy of each statement.
Found Poem:
 The found poem needs to be a minimum of 21 lines.
 The first 20 lines need to recount the plot.
 At least 15 of the first 20 lines need to be found lines from the story and
documented with page numbers.
 The final line needs to state the author’s warning.
 Each line is worth 1 point for a total of 21 points.
 The grade will be based on the accuracy of each line.
