WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY Council on Campus Planning and Usage (CCPU) – 2010-2011 Thursday, December 2, 2010 – 4:00 p.m. DuSable Room - University Union Members Present: Dana Lindemann (Psychology), Rafael Obregon (Engineering Technology), David Rohall (Sociology/Anthropology), Miriam Satern (Kinesiology), Lynn Thompson (Music), Eric Ribbens (Biology) ex-officio Landscape Liaison, Linda Zellmer (University Libraries) New Member: Scott Coker, Assistant Director of Physical Plant I. Opening Remarks - Miriam Satern, CCPU Chairperson A. Introduce Scott Coker B. Old Business/Initiatives. CCPU is a committee that should serve as the Faculty Representation to the Administration and Physical Plant and point of contact; we need to develop a new image. Executive Committee (Master Plan) – Macro View; CCPU – short term issues. Discuss how Planning issues and concerns coming through the committee can then be presented to Physical Plant. The information will be provided to the Senate and to the Provost so they are better informed. II. Scott Coker Remarks Scott informed the committee about issues related to Building Reps. In the past the list was maintained by OPS, but will now be maintained by Physical Plant. Historically, there has been irregular communication/coordination with Building Reps, Charles Darnell has been working on improving these issues. Scott also talked about the Sprocket system, and how it can be used for issuing service requests to Physical Plant. Also, he informed the committee about the budget for projects related to the Power Plant, steam lines ($10 million), and deferred maintenance. III. New Business/Initiatives A. Continue discussion about using Web-based forms. B. Committee members mentioned issues regarding Facility Usage fees (Union) and parking issues at Wagner due to the steam line project. Scott will bring these issues to OPS and the Master Plan Committee for possible resolution. C. Student Representative The Committee will re-visit the concern about not yet having student representation. Miriam and Rafael will continue exploring possibilities. D. Future Meetings for Spring semester January 27, February 24, March 24, April 28 of 2011 at 4:00pm. Location TBD The group talked about inviting Kenneth Hawkinson, Associate Provost & Associate VP, Academic Affairs to the next meeting. Council adjourned at 5:00 p.m. Recorder: Rafael Obregon
