B. Kokare completed Diploma in Industrial Electronics from BTE Mumbai in 1990, BE& ME (Electronics) from SGGSIE&T Nanded in 1993 and 199 respectively. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India, in January 2005 and completed Post-Doctoral Research work at University of California Santa Barbara, USA from Aug 2011 to Sept 2012 under BOYSCAST Fellowship. Presently he is holding position of an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. He has published more than 58 papers in international and national journals and conferences. He received the prestigious Career Award for Young Teachers (CAYT) for the year 2005 from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, India. The award carries a research grant of Rs. 10.5 lakhs spread over three years. In December 2009, he honored with “Best Achiever of SGGS Alumni”. He also received "BOYSCAST: Better Opportunity for Young Scientist in Chosen Area of Science and Technology" Fellowship of US$ 40,0000 from Government of India to Carry out his Post Doctoral Research Work at University of California Santa Barbara USA in 2011-12. Recently, in 2013-14, he has been honored with "Best Teacher Award" by Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University Nanded. He is also recipient of Travel Bursary Award of $500 from International Association of Pattern Recognition Society, UK for his research paper presented in ICPR 2004, Cambridge University U.K. Acknowledging Dr. Kokare’s research contribution, he has been selected as a reviewer of Twenty international journals like IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on System man and Cybernetics Part B, Pattern Recognition Letter, International Journal of Information and Mathematics, International journal on Image Vision and Computing. Dr. Kokare was also Program Committee member of International Conference on Signal and Image Processing 2006 (ICSIP 2006), which was held at Hubli, Karnataka, in Dec 2006. Dr. Kokare had visited Cambridge University U.K, University College London, University of Barcelona Spain, University of California Santa Barbara USA, University of California Berkley USA, University of California San Diego USA, Stanford University, USA, University of Iowa USA, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, University of Petronius Malaysia, and Bangkok for his research presentation and collaborative research work . His research interests include wavelets, image processing, pattern recognition, Computer Vision, and Content Based Image Retrieval. Based on his significant research contribution, recently Dr. Kokare has been chosen as candidate, whose biography is included in the 2007 Edition of Who’s Who in the World, which is published in November 2006. He is a life member of System Society of India, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and Member of IEEE, Member of IEEE Signal Processing Society, Member of IEEE Computer Society. Presently, he is a Coordinator of Center of Excellence, a world Bank funded project of Rs. 5.crores under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program. Under his guidance 5 research scholars completed their PhD and 7 research scholars are working towards their PhD. He had conducted more than 100 workshops/ invited talks in different engineering colleges in India.
