CODE OF FRATERNITY RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Section 1.
Application of Rules.
Paragraph 1. All individuals officially recognized by member chapter’s national body while upon the
University of Northern Iowa campus, including:
Line 1.
Associate members and pledges,
Line 2.
Active members,
Line 3.
Alumni,
Line 4.
Staff or other members of member chapter’s fraternal bureaucracy.
Paragraph 2.
Guests and/or visitors of a member chapter are affected for the duration of stay.
Section 2. The following acts shall warrant a charge of misconduct and, furthermore, shall constitute a
violation of the Interfraternity Council policy:
Paragraph 1.
Disruption of Greek authorized activities.
Paragraph 2.
Intentional or threatened infliction of bodily harm:
Line 1. Purposeful action which results to harm upon any person while on Greek premises or
involved with Greek related activities.
Line 2. Engaging in reckless action with a disregard to bodily harm incurred upon any person
as resultant of said action while on Greek premises or involved with Greek related activities.
Line 3. Engaging in action intended for the purpose of inflicting bodily harm upon any person
while on Greek premises or involved with Greek related activities.
Line 4. Threatened or implied use of force with the intention to inflict bodily harm upon any
person while on Greek premises or involved with Greek related activities.
Paragraph 3.
Destruction of Property:
Line 1. Purposeful acts which endeavor to intentionally damage or destroy the property of
any person while on Greek premises or involved with Greek related activities.
Line 2. Engaging in reckless action with a disregard to damage or destruction incurred to the
property of any person while on Greek premises or involved with Greek related activities.
Line 3. Engaging in action intended for the purpose of inflicting damage or destruction upon
the property of any person while on Greek premises or involved with Greek related activities.
Paragraph 4. Theft of property of any person while on Greek premises or involved with Greek
related activities.
Paragraph 5.
Hazing:
Line 1. Commissions any form of physical, emotional, or psychological act which endeavors to
injure, degrade, or otherwise disparage the quality of life of any person while on Greek
property or involved with Greek related activities.
Line 2.
Conspiring to commit said acts.
Paragraph 6. Forcible or unlawful entrance into any building, structure or facility on Greek premises,
involved with Greek related activities, or as otherwise prohibited by University, Local, State, and
Federal Law.
Paragraph 7.
False reporting of emergency scenarios:
Line 1. Purposeful acts which issue a false report of fire, bomb, or other emergency in any
building, structure, or facility on Greek premises, while involved with Greek related activities, or
as otherwise prohibited by University, Local, State, of Federal Law.
Line 2.
Paragraph 8.
Conspiring to commit said acts.
Unauthorized activities involving emergency or safety equipment:
Line 1. Purposeful acts of unauthorized alteration or use of emergency or safety equipment
in any building, structure, or facility on Greek premises, while involved with Greek related
activities, or as otherwise prohibited by University, Local, State, and Federal Law.
Line 2.

Conspiring to commit said acts.
Interference with emergency evacuation procedures or designs.
Interference with official Greek acts:
Line 1. Furnishing false information to a Greek officer or Greek official charged with collecting
said information.
Line 2. Harassing or threatening any individual associated with IJB cases either past, current,
or pending. This includes members of the Justicehood, Prosecution, Defense, or respective
witnesses.
Paragraph 11. Repetition of misconduct: A member chapter found guilty of prescribed conduct
and/or fails to comply with imposed sanctions shall be subject to dismissal from the Interfraternity
Council or any lesser sanction authorized.
