Brownfield, MO 08-27-07 Sale of giant beans to benefit college bound students by Jerry Passer You could be the owner of a large three-dimensional fiberglass sculpture shaped as a soybean that has been adorned by Iowa artists. 18 large beans that were part of the Soy on Parade Promotion of the Iowa Soybean Association this summer will be up for auction Wednesday, September 5 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines. The giant soybeans have taken Iowa by storm this summer. The four foot tall fiberglass beans brightened the corridors of the state capitol, Iowa State University and several other locations. The scavenger hunt featuring the giant soybeans was widely acclaimed as one of the highlights of this year’s state fair. All proceeds from the sale of the Soy on Parade creations will help fund scholarships for college bound students who are pursuing degrees in agriculture related fields. Don’t see a soybean that fits your or do you have a great idea for a soybean? Then ISA has just the bean for you. A blank soybean will be sold at the auction. The winner of the bean will have the opportunity to design it however he or she wishes. ISA will then have an artist make those ideas a reality. From logos to portraits, ISA can make this soybean suit your business or industry. If you wish to attend the auction, RSVP to Sue Heath at the Iowa Soybean Association, sheath@iowasoybeans.com.
