Missouri Governor's Conference on Agriculture underway

Honey QueenThe 40th Missouri Governor's Conference on Agriculture began
this evening at Osage Beach. The opening event, "A Taste of Missouri
Agriculture" featured an array of Missouri's foods and beverages.
The reception menu featured products associated with sponsoring organizations.
Sponsors included American Black Walnut Marketing Board, Misosuri Apple
Merchanding Council, Missouri Aquaculture Association, Missouri Beef Industry
Council, Missouri Beefalo Association, Missouri Bison Association, Missouri Corn
Programs, Missouri Dairy Association, Missouri Egg Council [Photo], Missouri
Pork Association, Missouri Sheep Producers, Inc., Missouri Soybean Programs,
Missouri State Beekeepers Association, Missouri Vegetable Growers
Association, Missouri Grape and Wine Board and Poultry Federation.
The Honorable Matt Blunt, Governor, State of Missouri, host of the conference,
will address attendees Monday morning.
The conference is hosting several speakers that will address what the future of
agriculture means to Missouri and the nation. Tomorrow’s speakers include: Dr.
Clive James, chair, Board of Directors, International Service for the Acquisition of
Agri-biotech Applications; Carl Casale, executive vice president, North America &
Latin America North Monsanto; Dr. Jerry Caulder, chairman and CEO, Finistere;
Dr. Max F. Rothschilde, C.F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture,
Iowa State University of Science & Technology; Dr. Sue DeNise, vice
president of Research and Development, MMI Genomics, Inc.; Dr. Lowell Catlett,
Regent’s Professor of Economics, Agriculture and Genetic Engineering; and
Bryan Townsend, motivational humorist.
