Associated Press 10-24-06 New veterinary teaching hospital under construction at Iowa State AMES, Iowa Construction has started on a new veterinary teaching hospital at Iowa State University in Ames. The new center, located at the college of veterinary medicine, will focus on the care of large animals and horses, which Iowa State says is the fastest growing segment of animals in Iowa. The hospital also will increase the capacity of the college's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, which is charged with safeguarding the state's livestock industry. The hospital will be named after Gene Lloyd, a 1949 graduate of ISU's College of Veterinary Medicine, and his wife, Linda, who donated three and a-half (m) million dollars toward its construction.
