Des Moines Register 07-23-06 Biz buzz 24 to attend first Okoboji Entrepreneurship Institute Two dozen entrepreneurial students from Iowa's three state universities will spend a week at Lake Okoboji beginning July 30 in a special business boot camp at the state's Lakeside Laboratory. The students at the Okoboji Entrepreneurship Institute will stay with local residents. They will meet daily to attend classes, hold discussions and play simulated business management games. The camp is the brainchild of Tom Bedell, a member of the Iowa Board of Regents, chairman of Pure Fishing and a Spirit Lake resident. Gateway founder Ted Waitt and other entrepreneurs will meet with the students. Eight students were selected each from the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa. By holding the camp at Okoboji, Bedell said, the students will be exposed to part of Iowa that most would not normally experience.
