Program Policies:

Requirements of Benchmark I: Acceptance in to Teacher Education
o Complete 40 credits
o Pass the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)
o 2.75 or greater GPA
o Pass the required background check
o Receive a “C” or better in English and speech requirements
o Receive a “C” or better in FCSE 101 – Intro to FCSE and EDUC 326 –Foundations of Ed
o Satisfactory complete Benchmark I Portfolio Assessment and Interview

Requirements of Benchmark II: Prior to Student Teaching
o Pass Content Test (Praxis II)
o Satisfactory completion of Benchmark II Portfolio Assessment and Interview
o Satisfactory completion of FCSE 320, 341 and 390 prior to student teaching
o Pass Up-dated background check
o Maintain 2.75 or greater GPA
o Complete a satisfactory TB test (within 1 year of the start of Student Teaching)
o Complete application for student teaching

Requirements of Benchmark III: Program Completion
o Ability to teach in the classroom and perform all the responsibilities of a teacher as
indicated through student teaching experience and assessment at a basic or higher level.
o Satisfactory completion of Benchmark III Portfolio assessment
o Final check that all program requirements are met and coursework completed.
