Today’s Objectives
● To clarify what a playlist is.
● To explain how playlists work.
● To provide resources for
building playlists.
● To allow time for creating and
curating playlists.
Why Personalized Learning Playlists?
●
Students are individuals!
○
○
○
They come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
They have a wide variety of abilities.
They have a wide variety of learning styles.
●
Teachers aren’t supermen
●
Resources are limited
●
Even strong students lack the skill set to break
through barriers that develop.
○
○
High Expectation + High Support School Culture creates
students reliant on scaffold to be successful.
We need to build for independence!
What is a playlist?
● A collection of resources a student can
select from to help him/her learn
necessary content.
● Digital playlists are easier to build,
but paper/pencil playlists are
possible.
How do you build a playlist?
● Create
○ Videos (Flipping)
○ Worksheets
○ Games
● Currate
○ Texts
○ Online Resources
○ Resources of Other Teachers
How do you use playlists?
● In whatever way works for you and your
classroom!
● In conjunction with essential content
assessments.
○ 10 Question Multiple Choice (from question bank)
○ Student chooses when to take and can retake as
many times as necessary for proficiency (80%)
