GPS Navigation Equipment
All GPS Navigation Equipment is Rentable to: UW- Stout Students ONLY
Limited to 1 GPS unit per Student ID
Rental Period and Late Fees: GPS units and accessories may only be rented out for a maximum of 1 week unless approved beforehand by SA
Coordinator. Late fees will be charged $5 per day for units and accessories not returned by stated date and time.
Device Etiquette: Please delete personalized waypoints, tracks, etc. from units before returning them.
Batteries: Batteries for all GPS units and accessories will not be provided or guaranteed to be charged and ready for use. All students must
take responsibility upon themselves to charge/change batteries before use. Chargers are available with rental.
Theft: With all GPS units and accessories theft is a major concern especially when left in a visible location or suctioned to a windshield.
Please take the necessary precautions to secure both the unit and accessories to increase safety.
Loss or Damage: Student agrees to bear all risk of loss, theft, damage to, or destruction of GPS unit and accessories during the entire rental
period and prior to successful return of the GPS unit and accessories to Stout Adventures. All loss or damage requiring repair shall be paid
for by the student and is limited to the full replacement value of the GPS unit and accessories. All repairable, damaged GPS equipment must
be repaired solely by way of Stout Adventures. Student agrees to bear all expense incurred by Stout Adventures in the course of repair to the
GPS unit. Student agrees to bear the replacement cost of damaged or missing GPS units and accessories. A list of replacement costs is
provided on the backside of this sheet.
Notice: Some states may have laws prohibiting GPS use and storage when unit is installed on vehicle dashboard and other locations. It is the
student’s responsibility to be knowledgeable and comply with any such state laws.
Indemnity: Student will hold Stout Adventures harmless from and against all claims, loss, liability for any direct, special or consequential
damages as a result of student’s use, custody, control, possession, and operation of the GPS unit and accessories. Operation of any radio
transmitting equipment, including GPS units, may interfere with the functionality of medical devices. Consult a physician or the medical
device manufacturer if you have any questions in this respect.
Warranty of Condition: Stout Adventures guarantees GPS units and accessories to be in good working order when rented. By signing below
student agrees that the equipment is in good working order, condition and appearance. Any aspects of the GPS unit and accessories that the
student deems unacceptable must be immediately reported to Stout Adventures in writing, or damage charges will accrue.
GPS units aim to provide you with service at all times. However due to the nature of satellite navigation, it is impossible to provide a fault
free service. The quality and coverage of the services is dependent on various factors and may also be impaired by geographic, atmospheric,
and other conditions or circumstances beyond our control. No responsibility will be accepted or credit given by Stout Adventures for satellite
transmissions, reception conditions experienced during the rental period.
Delorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS with SPOT Satellite Communicator:
Users must make an appointment with the Stout Adventures Coordinator to check in/out the unit.
Check-In/Ok: This feature sends a message with your location to prearranged contacts. Users may select from pre-loaded check-in messages
or Type & Send their own messages. The user will only be allowed one (1) Type & Send Message per day. The user agrees to pay Stout
Adventures $0.50 for each additional Type & Send Message.
Track Progress: A location message will be sent to the following website every 10 minutes for 24 hours or until canceled. It will not notify

Help/Assist: This feature sends a message with your location to prearranged contacts notifying them that you are in need of assistance.
SOS: This feature is to be taken very seriously. It is only to be used in a life threatening emergency. When an SOS message is sent, your
location and message is sent directly to emergency personal. Please note that emergency response times vary and are based on several
factors.
