The Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources at Vassar College is offering a one-year
(with possibility of renewal) post-Baccalaureate position to a graduating Vassar College senior or
recent Vassar College graduate. The Assistant for Sustainability Activities will report to the
Associate Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources, and will support sustainability
operations and initiatives across the College. The Assistant for Sustainability Activities will be
charged with much of the day-to-day oversight of College sustainability programs and initiatives,
recognizing sustainability as a balance among environmental, social and fiscal responsibilities.
Primary responsibilities of the Assistant for Sustainability Activities include:
 Day-to-day oversight and implementation of: existing college sustainability programs
and initiatives, including: SWAPR; GHG inventories and GHG Reduction Plan; STARS updates;
College Committee on Sustainability (CSS) website;
 Coordinate information and programming with and for: on-campus CSS- and non-CSS
sponsored sustainability events; VSA and other student groups; events with other colleges;
 Oversee: CSS Interns;
 Regular consultation with: Associate Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources,
and the faculty Chair of the CSS, on existing and emerging sustainability initiatives and
programming at the college; the Office of Communication for dissemination of information;
Buildings and Grounds Services for issues related to energy conservation, landscaping,
composting, materials purchase, environmental health and safety, and biogas and waste
stream concerns;
 Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree; graduating senior or recent alumna/us;
Experience working on campus-related sustainability initiatives;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
A team player with demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of constituencies including
faculty, students, staff and administrators;
 Able to take initiative and work independently.
